Rotary Club is a service club where prominent members of the community above the ages of 30 years old and with strong financial stability work together to give back to their community. They are clubs of Industry leaders, Business owners, and Executives of various local cooperation’s that are ready to serve their community addressing needs and working on large projects to the betterment of life. In Ethiopia, there are 12 Rotary Clubs in 5 Cities (Addis Ababa, Mekele, Gondar, Jimma and Awassa)
Rotaract is a service club for young men and women ages 18 to 30 who are dedicated to community and international service. Its membership totals over 184,000 in more than 8,000 clubs worldwide. Rotaract clubs are self-governing and self-supporting and can be either university- or community-based Individual Rotary clubs that sponsor Rotaract clubs and offer guidance and support, making the Rotaract clubs true “partners in service” and key members of the family of Rotary.
Rotaract Club of Debo (R.A.C Debo) is youth led initiative operating under the Rotary International, an international service organization providing humanitarian services. The organization is a gathering of professional leaders who work to bring about peace and goodwill around the world. Rotaract Club of Debo is part of the 9212-district operating in East Africa. Debo was established in 2016 by a group of Addis Ababa University students determined to solve the problems they saw around their community. Thus far Debo has successfully engaged in multiple projects including book donation and library renovation for Tesfa Berhan Charity Association, feeding the Elderly Project at Wudaregwayan on Dagma Tensea, and a tree planting project for Joy Autism Center. Rotaract Club of Debo yet has more fruitful community service projects to be embarked upon this year.
